"Simple ways to check your car radiator for leaks or dryness"

Leaking or dry radiator is one of the main causes of engine overheating that can lead to severe engine damage and unexpectedly high repair costs. If left unfixed for too long, the issue can decrease engine efficiency and increase the risk of driving hazards. Therefore, it is important to regularly maintain and inspect the condition of your radiator, especially if you use your car often or regularly drive long distances.

Let's learn some simple ways to inspect your car's radiator in just 5 minutes!

PTT Lubricants recommends 5 easy ways to inspect your radiator in just five minutes with no equipment needed! These steps will help prevent leaks and dryness, ensuring your engine runs efficiently in all situations while also extending its service life.

1. Check the coolant level in the reservoir

  • Open the hood to check the coolant level in the reservoir.

  • The coolant level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" lines. If the level is below the "MIN" line, add more coolant to the specified level.

2. Check the coolant level in the radiator

  • After the engine has cooled down, open the radiator cap and check the liquid level inside.

  • If the liquid level is lower than the edge of the radiator, add more coolant.

  • If the liquid level decreases abnormally fast, there may be a leak. It is recommended to take the car to the service center for further inspection.

3. Check the color of the coolant

  • Normal coolant color should appear clear or neon green. If the coolant becomes cloudy or has rust stains, it should be drained and refilled.

4. Check the radiator cap

  • Check the radiator cap for damage, such as a loose or leaking rubber seal as it can cause the cooling system to malfunction.

5. Check the radiator hose

  • Check the hose to see if there are leaks, cracks, or abnormal swelling. If found, replace the hose right away to prevent leaks.

It is recommended to choose the right coolant that suits your use.

To protect your cooling system, PTT Lubricants recommends ‘SUPER LONGLIFE COOLANT PREMIXED’ in fluorescent green and ‘SUPER LONGLIFE COOLANT-R PREMIXED’ in fluorescent pink.
