PTT as main sponsor of MotoGP
PTT plays part in the history of international motorsport championships by becoming an official sponsor of MotoGP, to be held in Thailand for the first time next year. The event will show the world the potential of Thais and expects to boost tourism and economy.
PTT Plc partners up with the Sports Authority of Thailand, and Dorna Sport, which is the rights holder of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix (MotoGP). PTT grabbed the opportunity to be an official sponsor of MotoGP, which will be held for the first time in Thailand on 5-7 October 2018 at Chang International Circuit in Buri Ram. Officially named PTT Thailand Grand Prix 2018, the event is expected to attract tourists and motorsport fans from all over the world and boost tourism and related industry as well as over all economy.
Mr. Auttapol Rerkpiboon, Chief Operating Officer, Downstream Petroleum Business Group, PTT Public Company Limited, says, “PTT supports the government to host the MotoGP in order to show the world that we have one of the best motorsport circuits in the world, and that we are able to host a world-class motorsport event as efficiently as other nations. PTT and Thais are exceptionally proud to host the grand prix and welcome motorsport enthusiasts from all over the world, which will help boost the country’s revenue. This is what the government is trying to achieve.”

We also believe that a large number of motorsport fans will also take this chance to enjoy their holiday in the country, and this is one of the government’s key objectives in hosting MotoGP.” Thailand, through the Sports Authority of Thailand, has secured a three-year deal with Dorna Sport to host the Grand Prix from 2018 to 2020, with Buriram United International Circuit Co., Ltd. as the rights manager of Thailand’s first edition of MotoGP, which is the 15th out of 19 races throughout the season. In addition to hosting the event, the winter test will also take place in Buriram on 16-18 February 2018.
MotoGP is the world’s number one motorcycle road racing championship watched by more than 800 million people and broadcast live to more than 200 countries around the world. There are more than 1 million MotoGP fans in Thailand. World’s famous riders, Marc Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi, will lead more than 90 talented drivers, including the one and only Thai to participate in the Moto3 World Championship throughout the season, Honda Team Asia’s Nakarin Atiratphuvapat, alongside wild card Thai riders to excite motorsport fans in Thailand.
