How to stay safe on the slippery road
During the rainy season, despite driving with caution, road accidents can still occur as the road surface is often wet and slippery.
Today, PTT Lubricants will share with you some techniques to ensure safety when having to drive on a slippery road. What are the best ways to protect our lives? Let’s explore what you should do!
Techniques to ensure safety when having to drive on a slippery road
1. DO NOT suddenly accelerate
When you suddenly accelerate, it can negatively affect the engine which will result in premature deterioration of the gear set, the clutch and the shaft.
2. DO NOT brake suddenly while driving at high speed
Sudden braking while driving at high speed can lead to an accident or car overturning. The risk is even higher during rainy conditions when the road surface becomes slippery, increasing the chances of accidents like rear-end collisions caused by the sudden braking of cars that are driving at a high speed.
3. Drive at a speed not exceeding 40-60 kilometers per hour
When it rains, it is recommended to drive at a speed that does not exceed 40-60 kilometers per hour to ensure safety on slippery roads.
4. DO NOT suddenly turn or change lanes
When it rains, the road becomes more slippery and the car also becomes more difficult to control. Therefore, you shouldn't suddenly turn or change lanes as it can result in a rear-end collision or overturning.
5. DO NOT use the clutch while turning
Using the clutch while turning will make it more difficult to control the car, increasing a chance of an accident and may also cause the car to miss the curve.
6. Maintain a distance from the front car to increase the braking distance
You should maintain a distance for 2-3 seconds or more from the vehicle in front to have a safe clearance when braking. However, if you start to lose control of the car, stop accelerating and hold the steering wheel firmly.
In addition to the techniques mentioned above, regardless of the season, don’t forget to always check the condition of the tires, brake pads and brake system for your safety. You can have your car inspected at every FIT Auto branch near you. Remember to always drive with caution during this rainy season. With care from PTT Lubricants💙
