Check your bike at 1,000 kilometers
Many motorcycle owners may not realize the importance of the mileage number of 1,000. In fact, the number “1,000” is a sign that it’s time for the first check-up if you want a long service life for your beloved bike .
Let's take a look at how to check your beloved bike!
1. Change the engine oil
Since the engine that has just been used will have considerable wear from scrap metal resulting from early production or use, the oil should be changed to remove any contamination from the system to prevent engine wear and make the engine run more efficiently.
Most of the manual transmission bikes are wet clutch types. The engine oil has to lubricate the engine, transmission and clutch at the same time. The gear tooth contact and clutch engagement can cause more dirt in the engine oil. The oil filter trapping metal debris, dust and dirt from the system, therefore, should be replaced in order to avoid problems such as clogging filters, and the oil can circulate in the system at full efficiency. For automatic transmission bikes that are dry clutch type, they will need a specific gear oil to lubricate the final drive. Therefore, the gear oil should be changed as well.
2. Check the brake system after using the bike for a while
The malfunction can be easily observed from the sound of brake pads while braking. If there is an abnormality such as the weird sound, seek a professional technician to have it fixed immediately.
3. Check the battery
Make sure that the various electrical systems are in working condition.
4. Check the nuts
Check the nuts, bolts and screws to make sure they are tight and not too loose.
It is very important to have your motorcycle inspected at its first 1,000 kilometers, so we can detect the problems that may arise at their early stages and can have them fixed in time. This will also ensure us that the condition of the bike is ready before further use.
