Awesome tips and tricks: How to easily take care of your car’s glass at home
Who likes to drive but doesn't like to wash the car? You might notice that the glass at each window is starting to become blurry after driving for a long time. There are dust stains, water stains or even hard plaque stains all over, right? That’s actually the sign that you’re in big trouble now. The blurry glass won’t just make the vision when driving bad, but will also affect the owner's image as well. Imagine that you are well dressed, but the car you drive is covered in water stains and dust. When you go to work or to a meeting with customers, that is not impressive at all.
Let's take a look at these 4 easy ways to take care of your car’s glass with tools that are very easy to find. They’re so simple that you can do it yourself at home for sure!
1. Windshield washer fluid
Let's start with something that we are already familiar with like a windshield washer fluid. Due to the fact that it is designed to be used specifically for cleaning the glass of the car, it has the ability to remove stains on the glass efficiently. We recommend using it with a cloth or sponge for wiping the glass to increase the ability to remove stains. For anyone who doesn't have windshield washer fluid, or does not want to spend extra money on buying one, let's take a look at the next item!
2. Vinegar
Something that is available in almost every kitchen in the house, the vinegar is suitable for stains on car glass that is still at ‘Level 1’ where the stain is not very thick and is not deeply buried to the point that it can't be polished. How to clean your glass with vinegar is as simple as dipping a cloth in vinegar and wiping it down. Those stains will come off easily due to the vinegar's effect of helping to get rid of hard water stains.
3. Toilet cleaner
Next, for hard water stains that are deeply ingrained up to ‘Level 2’ where you tried vinegar and they still won’t come off, we suggest that you try turning to toilet cleaner instead. You can first slightly dilute it if the cleaner is too strong, then drop it on a cloth to wipe those stains out. Bathroom cleaners contain hydrochloric acid, or saline, that works well in removing stubborn stains. However, the important thing is don’t forget to wear rubber gloves, masks, goggles and be careful not to splash it into the eyes or mouth to prevent chemical burns. Also, be careful NOT to let the liquid contact directly with the car's paint since it may result in corrosion of the paint and damage around that area.
4. Razor blade
If the first 2 methods don't work, then we will have to resort to Level 3, where we recommend that you try bringing a razor blade to scrape off the stains on the glass. You must be very careful and scrape gently. This method is only suitable for small stains and is not recommended to scrape completely as the glass may be scratched. When scraping until the stain is removed to a certain extent, use the toilet cleaner to wipe again until it is entirely clean.
PTT Lubricants assure you that if you try these glass care methods, they will definitely be pretty effective! However, if the stains are still firmly attached to the surface, maybe try taking your car to a professional shop to have it taken care of. Importantly, do not let water or dust stains stick to the glass until it is too late to clean. Have your glass cleaned early so that the car can alway look clean and beautiful, and you can also be safe on the road when driving with better visibility!
