Which window film to use in such sunny weather?

The weather in the summer of our country sometimes even the air conditioner that has been adjusted to very low temperature can’t help much. Luckily, for those who regularly drive during the day, today, PTT Lubricants have another way to help reduce the heat inside the car for you: to choose the right window film! For anyone who is looking for a window film, you may be wondering which one is the best for your car and your lifestyle. No problem! Let's get to know the difference of each type together ☀️

There are different types of car window film in the market. Today we will recommend the three main types that are widely used together with their advantages and disadvantages.

1. Deep Dye or Chip Dye Window Film

The colors of this type of car film tend to become pale and change relatively quickly compared to other film types. At the very beginning of the application, the film surface will appear to be black, but will gradually fade and eventually change after a while. Importantly, this type of car film can only shield against sunlight but not against the heat and UV rays (or only very little). Therefore, it reduces the intensity or brightness of sunlight when we are driving, but it does not help lower the temperature inside the car's cabin. This type of film is suitable for people with limited budgets since the starting price is not high.

2. Metallized Evaporation Window Film

This type of automotive window film is also known as mercury film. The film, however, does not actually contain mercury, just that it has the shiny, mercury-like appearance we're all familiar with. The film surface will be shiny. Applying this type of car film will not only protect against sunlight, but will also reduce heat inside the cabin as well. The advantage is that the price is not high. However, the metal plastered on the film surface may interfere with various signal waves in the car, such as the expressway access system signal, etc.

3. Super Nano Ceramic Film

This is a car window film with the most modern production technology at the moment. It uses nanoparticles such as ceramic particles and has them embedded into the film instead of plastering with metal. Therefore, it does not interfere with the operation of various signal systems. The nano-type car film can protect against infrared radiation or heat radiation in particular. It is also more durable than general automotive film resulting in longer service life when compared to other types of film. In exchange, the super nano ceramic film has a relatively higher price as well.

To conclude, the three types of window films differ in terms of price and quality. Try considering all these pros and cons before choosing the right one for your car. No matter how sunny this summer is, let’s be ready to go everywhere together with PTT Lubricants 💙
