Tips for bikers! How to ride safely during the rain

  • Ride at low speed

When it rains, the road gets slippery, or even worse when it becomes waterlogged. It will affect vehicle control in both balancing and braking. Therefore, it is recommended that bikers ride at a low speed or maintain the speed in a safe range to prevent slips. Riders should also stay in the left lane to avoid the risk of accidents coming from other cars that may drive at high speed.

  • Turn on the headlights

Even during the daytime, heavy rains can worsen visibility of bikers. Therefore, the headlights should be on all the time for better, clearer vision. Plus, the lights allow other cars to see you as well, for the sake of your own safety.

  • Increase braking distance

Braking becomes more difficult on slippery, waterlogged roads. Motorcycle users therefore need to increase the braking distance to allow the vehicle to stop at a proper distance. Do avoid sudden braking as you might lose control of the bike which can result in unexpected accidents.
