Let’s check it out! Which lubricants and fluids in the cars should be changed?
As a car is made up of many parts that are joined together. In order to make the car able to efficiently drive for a long time, lubricants and fluids are important for helping the engine run smoothly and safely without jamming along the route.
Today, PTT Lubricants has listed out lubricants and fluids that are used in a car and the duration you should have them changed so that you can bring your car to check at the service center at the appropriate intervals. What are the lists? Let's check it out!
Engine Oil
Engine oil is a lubricant that is essential for helping your vehicle perform at its best as well as prolonging an engine life. A good engine oil is not only lubricating and preventing wear, but it also improves driving performance and increases the fuel economy of your car. There are different replacement intervals depending on the application and the quality level (grade) of the oil as follows:
- Mineral engine oil has a change interval of 7,000 kilometers or 4 months, whichever comes first.
- Semi-synthetic engine oil (Synthetic Technology) has a change interval of 10,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first.
- Fully synthetic engine oil has a long change interval of up to 15,000 kilometers or 1 year, whichever comes first.

In addition, the transmission oil also helps prevent rust and corrosion of the internal parts of the transmission system. The recommended oil change intervals are generally as follows:
- Fully synthetic automatic transmission fluid has suitable change intervals of 40,000 kilometers or 2 years, whichever comes first.
- Synthetic technology automatic transmission fluid has suitable change intervals of 20,000 kilometers or 1 year, whichever comes first.
- Fully synthetic manual transmission fluid has suitable change intervals of 60,000 kilometers or 3 years, whichever comes first.
- Mineral manual transmission fluid has suitable change intervals of 40,000 kilometers or 2 years, whichever comes first.

Power Steering Oil
Power steering oil is a lubricant that acts as a medium in the steering system and helps decrease the amount of effort required to turn the wheels in different directions. Moreover, it not only helps you comfortably steer and control the car, but also helps prevent wear of system components as well as rust and corrosion. It is recommended to regularly check the condition of the fluid and power steering system at the specified intervals in the car manual.
Brake fluid
Brake fluid is the medium that transmits power from the brake master cylinder to the brake piston, making the brake system work effectively every time you want to slow down or stop the car. The general change interval is 240,000 kilometers or every 2 years, whichever comes first.
