Let’s check why your car isn’t properly accelerate when stepping on the pedal

When you are ready but your car is not... Isn’t it a big hassle if you are feeling like the car is not running as fast as before no matter how much you step on the accelerator and you have to pray really hard that your car won’t die before you arrive?

No worries! Today, PTT Lubricants will help you solve the sluggish car problem. The main reason is due to an engine malfunction, which can occur in many parts, including:

1. Air filter

If there is a lot of dirt accumulated and clogged in the air filter, the engine will not be able to fully absorb the air. As a result, the acceleration rate decreases and causes the car to sluggish. Car users should check and make sure to clean it regularly. It is also recommended to have the filter changed at every 20,000 kilometers or 1 year, whichever comes first or assessed from the filter condition or its dirtiness.

2. Spark plug

For gasoline and gas engine vehicles, the deterioration of the spark plug or accumulation of the ash will result in an incomplete combustion which will hinder the engine acceleration and cause more fuel consumption. Car owner should regularly check and replace spark plugs when they are damaged or  refer to the recommended periods from the car manual, such as every 100,000 kilometers.

3. Ignition coil

The ignition coil generates a high voltage electric current that is sent to the spark plug to ignite the spark. If the ignition coil wears out, electric current that powers the engine will become insufficient, causing the engine to not accelerate properly. Therefore, it is recommended to regularly check and have it replaced immediately if the ignition coil is deteriorated or at every 100,000 kilometers.

4. Fuel filter

Whenever the fuel filter is clogged with dirt, the car will stumble, causing the engine to not accelerate. Car users should have the oil filter replaced as recommended by the car manual.

5. Engine oil

If the oil drain interval has been extended more than the suitable period, this will allow mud, sludge, and dirt to start accumulating. The prolonged change interval will also thicken the engine oil and stimulate the deterioration to the point that it can affect the engine performance. When these problems occur, the engine oil won’t be able to perform the lubrication function to the fullest efficiency. With the lack of lubrication, internal parts of the engine will rub against each other and wear, causing damage to the engine. And the car will finally become sluggish and cannot accelerate as desired. As a result, it is important that the car owner have the engine oil changed according to the recommended intervals or driving conditions.

As for 100% fully synthetic engine oil products from PTT Lubricants specially formulated for gasoline passenger cars and light duty diesel engines such as pickups, SUVs, PPVs, they can be used for a maximum range of 15,000 kilometers and 10,000 kilometers for synthetic technology engine oils.

If you are a person who uses the car often, don't forget to take care of your car by having it inspected regularly. And most importantly, don't forget to have your engine oil changed at the specified intervals in order to prevent the acceleration problem so that the car can work at its full potential.
