9 warning lights on the dashboard that every driver needs to know!

1. Warning - The engine is overheating

If this light appears as you are driving, it indicates that your engine is overheating. You should stop the car immediately and call for help. It is better to have an expert inspect and help you check the water level in the boiler to see where you should fix first.

 

2. Warning - Low engine oil pressure

If you start the car and notice that this light is showing, that means there is a drop in oil pressure. It is recommended to take the car to the service center to have it inspected and have the engine oil changed as soon as possible. If left unattended, the engine may be severely damaged.

 

3. Warning - Alternator is not working properly

If this warning light appears on the dashboard of your car, it is telling you that there is something wrong with the alternator or  the alternator has stopped working. This will result in low battery power and low electrical power level which can cause the car to shut off. If this sign is shown on the dashboard, the car should be taken to the nearest service center to have expert technicians inspected and fixed right away.

The charging system warning light indicates that the alternator has malfunctioned and cannot supply power to the battery or to the vehicle system. If this warning light shows up, the alternator should be repaired as soon as possible.

 

4. Warning - ABS braking systems are not functioning properly

In cars with ABS braking systems, if the brake has malfunctioned, the warning light will show up right away. If this light is seen, although the braking system is still working normally, the ABS system may not work if an accident occurs. It is recommended to bring the car for a checkup as soon as possible. 

 

5. Warning - Stuck handbrake 

This light is telling you that the handbrake is in use. If you have fully lowered the handbrake but the light is still seen, you should try to release the handbrake again as leaving it will cause problems to the car.

 

6. Warning - Steering system is not functioning properly

If this light is seen on the dashboard, it indicates that the steering system is not working properly. In this case, it will be more difficult to control the steering wheel and the direction of the car. If you start the engine and notice that this light is on, you should bring the car to the service center to have the steering system inspected as soon as possible to prevent any accident.
 

7. Warning - Low fuel level

The light indicates that your fuel is running low. It is recommended to look for the nearest gas station to refuel before the engine shuts off in the middle of the road. However, it is still better to not let the fuel remain so low that this signal light is shown to avoid problems that can follow.

 

8. Reminder - Some of the doors is not completely closed

This is a warning light that some of the doors are not completely closed. Check the door again before leaving.
 

9. Reminder - Fasten your seat belt

Seat belts can reduce the severity of an accident. If this light is shown, it means that you forgot to fasten your seat belt before leaving. In some models, they even have a warning sound that will not stop unless you have fastened your seat belt as well.
