For all the bikers that have just gone through a long trip with your favorite bike, the most important thing that you should keep in mind after taking some rest is that your bike would love some pampering too! Since the engine system, the electrical system and the suspension system have been used heavily, there are chances that some parts of the bike might have been worn and torn from the long drive and road conditions.

What you might want to focus on are as follows:

Washing and Cleaning the Bike

It is expected that there will be traces of stains after being used during the trip. Whether theyre soot stains, soil stains or mud stains, they are going to be there. Washing and cleaning your bike might be the very first thing you want to take care of. Leaving your loved bike stained for a long period of time will make it harder to clean or even cause rust. It can also alter the color of your bike in the long run.

Checking Engine Oil Level

Checking engine oil level is important for both daily use and post-long trips. Regular check-ups are recommended for every driver to determine whether the oil level is too low or not. When observing the dipstick, the oil level should be at the specified level, not too high or too low. If the oil level read on the dipstick drops abnormally low, start checking for leaks around the engine or consult professionals as soon as possible.

Checking Brake Fluid Level

For safety when using the bike, the brake engine is also majorly important. After the long drive, dont forget to check whether the brake fluid is still at the normal level or not, and check whether the brake system of the bike can work normally and effectively. Also, dont forget to check the brake pads. If they are too thin or too deteriorated, replace them immediately.

Checking Electrical System

Apart from the engine and brake wise, the lighting must be taken care of as well. It is advisable to check the lighting systems that are in key areas, such as headlights, taillights, turn signals, brake lights and dashboard lights. Make sure all of them can work properly, and if not, dont forget to repair or replace them into ready-to-use condition.

Checking Tire

The condition of tires should be checked regularly whether they are ready to be used or not. Make sure that tire pressure is normal and there are no bulges or foreign objects found in the tires. The tire condition can be determined by pecking the tire with fingernails and seeing if any trace does appear and if it can restore back to the previous state afterwards. If the tires are too hard, gripping power when driving on the road will be poor. Also note that tire tread depth should not be lower than 3 millimeters. However, if any crack or tear is found, replace the tire immediately to prevent future accidents.

As motorcycles provide convenience and high mobility in traveling, many people have chosen them as their best buddy for traveling both short and long distance trips. Therefore, for the safety of your own and longer service life, dont forget to take good care of this two-wheeled buddy!
