During this COVID-19 situation, it is undeniable that more and more people are turning to private cars for the sake of practicing social distancing and reducing the risk of coming into contact with the virus.

However, due to that convenience, we sometimes forget about the sanitary of our own cars. The cars that we use to drive every day have many risk points that may be infected with COVID-19. Therefore, cleaning your car is very important.

Let's see where you should be more wary of and how to sanitize them!

1. Door Handle

The first thing that we touch when entering or exiting the car is the handle. Therefore, we have to clean the handles both inside and outside thoroughly. We can use a cloth moistened with disinfectant to wipe the handles of every door. Keep in mind that the disinfectant should not be sprayed directly onto the surface of the car as it may affect the car’s paint.

2. Car Seat

The seat is the area we have close contact with, also it is where a large number of germs lurks. Therefore, we should pay special attention to this area as well. Appropriate methods of cleaning vary according to types of your car seats;

  • Cloth upholstery

Should be regularly exposed to the sunlight in order to kill germs. You can do so by simply leaving the door wide open for some time when parking in an open space. You can also use mild soapy water mixed with warm water to wipe the surface clean. This makes the car seats sanitized and free of dirtiness.

  • Leather upholstery

Use soapy water to wipe the upholstery after use. It can help reduce musty odors and eliminate germs that accumulate on the surface.

  • Velvet upholstery

It is recommended to use a special detergent containing Silver Nano mixed with water and gently brush it with a brush. This will efficiently help stop bacteria and germs from growing.

3. Steering Wheel

Our hands will be touching the steering wheel the whole time while driving. Some people might choose to wear gloves to avoid  direct contact, but for those who find that uncomfortable, it is recommended to clean the steering wheel regularly by using a cloth moistened with disinfectant. However, it is still advisable to wash your hands with alcohol gel or alcohol spray before touching the steering wheel every time.

4. Storage Spaces and Compartment

Although we don’t seem to touch these areas very often, they still should not be overlooked. It is recommended to use a wet wipe or a damp cloth to clean areas such as cup holders and glove boxes regularly to keep them sanitized so that we can be safe from viruses!
