How to Drive Safely When Driving Near A Truck

On the road where there are many different types of cars, from small ones to big ones to trucks, they share the same path. Many people tend to get nervous every time they have to drive close to the truck as getting very close to a large vehicle induces a higher risk for an accident. If you find yourself in that situation, trying to avoid the 4 blind spots of the truck can help reduce the risk of accidents for you. Now let’s see where those blind spots are:

Point 1:  the front of the truck

Since the driver's seat in the truck is relatively high, the car in front of the truck that is too close may not be visible to the driver. In the case that you have to drive in front of the truck, try to keep some distance between the truck and your car for your own safety. The smaller your car is, the higher the danger of being invisible. Be sure to keep some distance.

Point 2: the right side of the truck

If you need to drive on the right side of the truck, avoid being around the truck’s side mirror area all the way down to the truck door area. The driver is often unable to see those spots. It is advisable to find a time that is safe and then speed up your car to pass the truck, or maybe slow down to stay in the back of the truck instead.

Point 3: the left side of the truck

This side is also a very dangerous spot because it is an angle where the driver can see very little of other cars. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid driving on the left side of the truck. In an unavoidable situation, the driver should make sure to be extra careful.

Point 4 : behind the truck

Some trucks can barely see the cars behind them at all. For those driving behind the trucks, it is recommended that the distance between the car and the truck is at least 80 meters for safety.
