5 steps to get rid of the mold in your car

Apart from looking unsightly, mold also smells unpleasant and may be harmful to the health of those using the car as well. During the Work From Home period, many people might have left their car parked for a long time, leaving it exposed to the humidity from the rain. This creates an ideal environment for mold to grow in various parts of the car.

This rainy season, let PTT Lubricants introduce you to the 5 steps to easily get rid of mold stains in cars. Let’s see what you should do!

Step 1 : Park the car in an open area

The first step is to park the car in a well-ventilated area and leave the car doors open. It would be even better if you can park in an area with strong sunlight as it will help get rid of bad smells and ventilate the air in the car. This is a very good way to start cleaning!

Step 2 : Spray vinegar on moldy areas

Prepare vinegar containing 5% acetic acid, do not use the diluted ones. Then pour it into a spray bottle, spray it over the moldy area and let it sit for at least an hour to allow the chemical reaction to occur and remove the mold stains.

Step 3 : Wipe them off with a dampened cloth

Soak a clean cloth with warm water, wring it out, and wipe the areas where you’ve previously sprayed the vinegar over. If it seems like the mold still remains, you can repeat Step 2 and Step 3 over again until the mold is completely eliminated.

Step 4 : Remove the dead mold with vacuum cleaner

Use a vacuum cleaner to suck out all the dirt and the dead mold that might still be deeply embedded in various parts of our car. This will help prevent the recurrence of the mold.

Step 5 Open the car doors and let dry

Leave the car exposed to sunlight and open the doors to expel moisture from the car. Now, your car is clean and free from bad mold!

For safety reasons, don’t forget to wear protective equipment such as glasses, mask and gloves to prevent fumes and droplets of vinegar from splashing onto your face and body.

And that’s it, the 5 steps to eliminate mold and help keep your car clean so you don't have to worry throughout the rainy season!
