PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (PTTOR) is teaming up with the world’s leading racing team Scuderia Toro Rosso, part of the Red Bull Formula 1 network, to bring Mr. Alex Albon Ansusinha, a Thai driver sponsored by PTTOR, to the Formula 1 auto racing scene. The announcement was jointly chaired by Ms. Jiraphon Kawswat, President and CEO of PTTOR and Mr. Matthew Strachan, Commercial Director for Scuderia Toro Rosso, at PTT Public Company Limited’s headquarter.
Ms. Jiraphon said that PTTOR is honoured to work with Scuderia Toro Rosso in supporting Alex Albon Ansusinha, a Thai-British driver, at Formula 1, a high-profile and widely popular competition that showcases the best of car racing technology and human driving skills. F1 race, which features many of the world’s best race drivers, draws 1.8 billion viewers a year for the sport’s globally staged events loved by motorsport enthusiasts worldwide. Alex, is the only Thai national to currently compete in Formula 1. He is only the second Thai driver ever to have competed in F1 after Prince Birabongse Bhanudej Bhanubandh, better known as Prince Bira, who raced back in the year 1950. PTT Lubricants, an PTTOR brand, has been sponsoring Alex since he started racing in Formula 2 last year. Thanks to his outstanding performance, the Thai driver has been selected to join Scuderia Toro Rosso’s team in Formula 1 this year, proudly representing the Kingdom of Thailand.
F1 races are major events drawing attention from motorsport aficionados worldwide and PTTOR hopes that, with this sponsorship deal, it is giving the Thai driver a chance to show off his skills at the world’s leading racing events while also putting Thailand back on the global F1 map and also creating confidence in the quality of PTT Lubricants among motorsport fans from around the world. This aligns with PTTOR’s vision to pave the way for Thai products to get recognized as global brands. PTTOR has been supporting various national and international motorsport events, providing opportunities for Thai drivers to gain experience at high-profile competitions on the global stages. Events supported by PTTOR include the Thailand Super Series and BRIC Superbike by PTT Station. Since last year, PTTOR and PTT have also been the main official sponsors of MotoGPาดคำว่าา้หน่อยค่ะ จาด on their, the world’s most challenging motorbike race, currently called PTT Thailand Grand Prix. Through PTTOR’s sponsorships, Thai motorsport fans and Thai drivers alike will benefit from the country’s increased participation in international racing events, Ms. Jiraphon said.
